![]() It would not be noticeable to most people Rinsing vs no rinsing – rinsing yields a barely noticeable marginal improvement in fluffiness. If you rinse AND soak for 1 hour, you must reduce the water by 3 tablespoons (ie 1 1/4 cups minus 3 tablespoons) If you rinse, you must reduce the water by 2 tablespoons to factor in the extra water than remains in the rice (ie 1 1/4 cups water minus 2 tablespoons) No rinsing – if you use 1 1/4 cups of water for every 1 cup of jasmine rice, your rice will be fluffy even without rinsing NO it is not! I have made so much rice in my time verifying this exact fact. Yes, 1/4 cup really makes a difference! I made a lot of overly soft jasmine rice in my life that I was never really happy with until I finally figured this out.īusting an age old myth here – that rinsing the rice is mandatory for fluffy rice. So while most rice is cooked with 1.5 cups of water for each cup of rice, for jasmine rice, it’s reduced to 1 1/4 cups of water. What most people do not know is that jasmine rice is softer than most white rice, which means you need less water in order for the rice to cook so it’s soft and fluffy, rather than gummy on the outside. The secret for how to cook jasmine rice perfectly It’s also used to make Thai fried rice and Pineapple Fried Rice which is the other recipe I’m sharing today! It’s strongly associated with Thai food, and used for serving with everything from Thai marinated chicken to Chilli Basil Stir Fry, Satay Skewers and the many Thai curries out there. Jasmine rice is a lovely, subtly perfumed rice used across South East Asia. And with this method, there’s no excuse for making undercooked (or overcooked) rice again. Also see How to Cook: White rice | Basmati Rice | Brown Rice How to cook Jasmine Rice Perfect rice requires less work than it seems-actually, the less you bother the rice during the cooking process, the better it turns out. Once you’ve mastered the basic oven rice recipe, branch out into other dishes like pilafs and layered casseroles. If you’re not starting the rice on the stovetop, you’ll want to increase the oven temperature to 450° and let it cook for 30–35 minutes. While I prefer starting on the stovetop to ensure that the water reaches the right temperature (and to speed up the process!), you can cook rice entirely in the oven, like in Yotam Ottolenghi’s Baked Minty Rice with Feta and Pomegranate Relish. I recommend using a glass casserole dish to eliminate uncertainty-you can easily see how much water remains without removing the foil and releasing steam. Of course, making rice in the oven comes with a similar set of challenges as rice made on the stovetop: To keep the heat consistent and trap as much steam as possible, you’ll want to avoid frequently checking how much water has been absorbed. Other varieties of rice, such as brown rice, may need slightly more water, but for most kinds of white rice, this is my surefire ratio. (Short-grain rice varieties such as sushi rice aren’t suited for the oven.) Then, add the rice to the pot along with water: The ratio is the same as if you were cooking on the stovetop-for every cup of rice, I use 1¼ cups of water. I like to use jasmine rice as an easy side to any meal, but you can cook any type of medium- or long-grain rice in the oven. While the oven heats to 400°, rinse the rice two to three times until the water runs clear. To begin, you’ll need an ovenproof pot with a tight lid such as a Dutch oven or even a casserole dish tightly fitted with aluminum foil. “It’s practically foolproof,” says Ali Slagle, a recipe developer who’s tested a handful of rice-cooking methods. The oven method is also ideal for when you need to free up stovetop space or are looking for a hands-off method. Because the rice is in the oven, there’s no temptation to lift the lid and release steam, or to (heaven forbid) stir the pot. The consistent and gentle heat of the oven, however, is similar to the environment of a rice cooker, removing many of the variables that can lead to burnt, mushy, or gummy rice. Lift the lid too soon (or too often) and you may end up with a mushy mess. Use a heat that’s too high and you can burn the bottom layer. Tender fluffy rice, however, can be deceptively complicated to achieve if you haven’t had some practice. Rice on the stovetop was one of the first recipes I ever learned, and there’s no reason to mess with something so tried-and-true. But if you don’t have a rice cooker, cooking rice in the oven, rather than on the stove, may actually be the next best thing. Growing up in a Filipino household, our method for a perfect everyday rice recipe was simple: Use a rice cooker.

![]() So I should have an idea of what I'm probably going to get. On the other hand, I have a feeling that in the next couple of months I'll have no choice - this phone will die and I will have moments to line up a new phone. I just don't feel like learning a new contraption. If my current BB ran fine, I would probably not bother getting new phone. But the iphone pseudo-keyboard is horribly frustrating. I am a giant guy with giant hands that have giant fingers. Does android have anything like that?Ī final note: I need the little keyboard. Since I live in the country, and I travel a lot to very remote places, having a "plan B" internet is important. Whenever I need internet and I have cell service, I can plug my laptop into my blackberry and I have free internet. I should also mention that one of the things I like about my blackberry is that I bought the "tether" stuff. Fortunately, I had copied all of my files off of the BB about five minutes earlier, so nothing was lost. After all of my files were gone, the BB seemed to work much better. I thought I was doing the "sync", but then all of my files were no longer on my phone. I then learned that "sync" is synonymous with "delete". I learned I needed to "sync" my BB or else it would get constipated. BBs apparently need you to learn a little about how a BB works or else they will eventually get sick and then you need to call tech support. ![]() He said that the android memory management is much smarter and will tolerate my abuse far better. The tech support guy suggested that my next phone be an android. I kinda wish I could hand my phone over to "the phone whisperer" once a month and then my phone would be happy and all would be well. that sort of thing just doesn't seem to make my priority list. So it sounds like the blackberry memory management is something that I would need to learn and nurture and take care of and. Frankly, it sounds like the insides of a blackberry is a lot like how 386 computers could get by the 640k barrier with goofy memory dancing stuff. Although I need higher quality video and pictures.Īfter a long chat with verizon tech support, it would seem that I abuse my blackberry by not regularly synching it and deleting stuff from it. Plus, the idea of having the camera/video built in has been a great value. I'm hooked on the email in the blackberry. And my bb has been getting sick at times. My blackberry is over two years old and verizon desperately wants me to get a new phone (and lock me in to another two years). ![]() I could go on and on about that, but I'm gonna skip that. Personally I'd get a laptop or PC and wire it into iRog the different USB port next to your Bluetooth Module, when you install it on a seperate PC it can diagnose what your problem with your CPU is, using RC POSTER, you can also do this on an Android, Windows, or Sybelius phone, or an iPhone, iPod and iPad. I have not had this error mine just has each one solid for 1-5seconds, the boot one stays for 15-25 that's just cos it's booting raid, just try to unplug everything, then plug in all power, no hdds or ssds no dvds just power and gpu, cpu and memory all of it, MEMOK should be pressed/held straight after pressing the power button, try launch is with no hdds and ssds, maybe the best way would be update bios cos that might sort out it's problems, I read that the first BIOS that you get with it doesn't support the 1100T, it does say that 0203 BIOS does support it but I'd update to 3027 for perfect compatibility That's quite a weird situation, maybe the Socket or CPU has a loose pin or something, or maybe some cracked solder, have you switched to your backup BIOS, using the switch right next to your Asus Front Panel Q Connector. I tried removing all of the RAM and installing just one stick, but the red CPU LED is still on. Please help before I pay someone else to install and wire this, I really would love to do this myself but I didn't think it would take this much time, which I have very little of being enrolled in 3 simultaneous degrees. I don't know if it's the motherboard (which seems to be working in every other aspect) or the CPU itself. It's plugged in to the motherboard's CPU 4-pin fan connection and the Molex is connected, so I am pretty sure it has power. The Cooler Master V6GT CPU cooler fans aren't spinning, but the LED "dipstick" in front lights up. I don't know why the light is on or how to get the machine working. I didn't know if it was not receiving enough power, which is why I connected the 2 Molex EZ-Plugs after trying it without them connected. I can't find anything in the manual to let me know where to start troubleshooting this issue. I also connected the two 4-Pin EZ-Plugs (Molex connections) from the PSU to the motherboard because the manual said to connect them to ensure sufficient power for running multiple graphics cards (even though I am only running one video card, I tried it without first and then with the Molex connected). I have the 24-Pin power connected from my PSU to my motherboard, as well as the 8-Pin EATX 12V connection. I don't know if I wired something wrong, or if one of the components was DOA when I received it. but then I saw the CPU Q-LED glowing red located by the 24-pin EATXPWR connector. To my excitement, the fan LEDs came on and were blowing air, my 2 5.25" drives were on along with my NZXT Sentry LX 5-Fan Controller, the motherboard lit up and everything seemed great.
